Oscars 2013 – Top 6 Red Carpet Looks

Last night’s Oscars ceremony (or, as I like to call it, the Super Bowl for film and fashion) provided both plenty of hits and misses in terms of fashion. I don’t like to focus on the negative (aka Anne Hathaway’s nipple bombs), so instead I will share my top picks from the night. I couldn’t settle on only 5, so I slipped in another hoping nobody would notice. 😉

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jennifer was the star of the evening in my book. From her humble acceptance speech (fall included! What girl didn’t cringe and giggle for her at the same time when this happened – we can all imagine tripping on all that dress!) to her confident and relateable attitude, she really knows how to win the audience over. I expect to see her for many years to come, rocking it out on the red carpet each and every time. PS – This is a far jump from her red Calvin Klein bodycon dress at the 2011 Oscars – a look that is still a favorite of mine.

Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé

This gown didn’t strike me at first, but after a while it really grew on me. The Jessica Rabbit-esque of the entire look it is what I think really leaves an impression. I just wish the dress was a little better fitting – the sheer overlay at times looked a little sloppy.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino

This was a nice change of pace for Jennifer. A big step away from her black and body-hugging style of years past, this show-stopping red gown really grabs your attention (for all the good reasons).

Halle Berry in Versace

Halle once again hit the nail on the head with this stunning statuesque striped gown. It accented her tall and strong figure, and the structure of it was simply gorgeous.

Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott

Nicole is always a top contender in my book, and has been for as many years as I can remember watching the show. This year was no exception, her sparkling black and gold gown immediately caught my attention.

Naomi Watts in Armani

Nicole Kidman’s BFF must have gotten the memo on sparkle – but instead of gold, she opted for this luscious asymmetrical silver/pewter gown – quite possibly my favorite look of the evening.
